Anxiety
Anxiety is a physical, mental, and emotional reaction to stress. There are many levels of anxiety and each one can take away from the persons quality of life. Physical aspects of anxiety are; sweating, nervous stomach or the feeling of butterflies in the stomach, lack of sleep, shaking hands, nausea, fidgeting or can’t sit still, over eating or unable to eat, and headaches, dizziness, or lightheadedness. Mental aspects of anxiety are; racing thoughts, over analyzing life, can’t focus or concentrate, and thoughts are mostly negative. Emotional aspects of anxiety are; feelings of everything being out of control, hopelessness, obsessions, fatigue, and exasperation. Some anxiety is normal and part of life but when the anxiety begins to control how you think, feel, act it may be time to seek help. Many times someone who is having a panic attack may not know that is what happening. Your heart may feel like it is going to pound out of your chest or it may even feel painful like you are having a heart attack. Your head may feel like you are in a whirlwind tunnel. You may feel like you have bugs crawling on you and you may feel cold and clammy. You may also feel hot and sweaty during this attack. One of the biggest tools to help during this time is to focus just on your breathing. You may also need to focus on a picture or something that you can look at and regain some control over your own body.
